November 18 - French Day was celebrated by all the students from pre school to
high school. Starting on a serious note
with a speech on French Day, the celebrations moved on to a unique display of
the day’s news, in French. The celebrations then progressed
dramatically to a heart-warming chorus of the most popular French nursery rhyme
and lullaby, Alouette.
After the tiny toddlers working their magic on the
audience, the middle school students took over and lit up the stage with an enchanting
stanza of an all-time favourite, Aux Champs Elysees.
There
were programs on a more intellectual note as well, with a mind boggling quiz on
the largest art museum of the world, The Louvre, and on an even more serious
note, a beautiful poem by the famous French poet, Charles Baudelaire.
From bake sales to presentations, artwork to quizzes;
there was truly nothing that was omitted from the celebrations.
Cheese and perfume products from the top French brands were displayed. The best French writers’ masterpieces displayed beneath a faint
glowing light. And there was even something to make taste buds tingle; all the
way from innocent sparkling water to the rather famous Bordeaux Vineyards red
wine. The fifth graders sold delicious French baguettes and muffins to the
twelfth graders. Paintings from many French artists were displayed. Claude Monet lit up the entire venue.
An accumulation of a variety of activities marked the best French
Day. “Vivie La France”.
