October 1:  As part of the academic activities, the students of grades 4 and 5 visited Navadarshanam (New Vision), a Trust that investigates ecological and spiritual alternatives to the modern way of living and thinking. 

The students learnt 1) Eco-restoration - by preventing grazing, land can be converted from wasteland to a nascent forest; 20 Natural farming - fruit saplings, vegetables and cereals/pulses can be planted with minimum disturbance to trees and bushes which come up naturally; 3) Health and Food - classification of cooking methods based on digestibility and acidity-alkalinity 4) Energy - power requirements for lighting and pumping water can be generated by solar panels and systems, wind power and from oil made from the seeds of 'Honge' tree; 5) Housing - construction using eco-friendly materials such as compressed mud blocks.
